The Search » Find output format branch of Settings allows you to configure the format / templates used to display the output of a Find in files command.

You can use the following variables for the output:

  • $Dc - File's "Created" date / time
  • $Dm - File's "Modified" date / time
  • $P - Full path to file
  • $F - Search string
  • $L - Line number of match
  • $S - Contents of line containing match
  • $C - Number of occurrences of search string found
  • $N - Number of files in which search string was found

Pressing the Default button will restore the default formats for all of the below fields and reset the find in files output to the factory default format.

Output per file

These options control information that is displayed for each file included in the find in files output.

Header
If this option is selected, the specified format is used as a header for the file containing a match.

Found line
If this option is selected, the specified format is used for each line in which a match occurrs.

File summary
If this option is selected, the specified format is used as an overall summary of matches for the file containing a match.

Final output

This option controls information that is displayed in the final line of the find in files output:

Find summary
If this option is selected, the specified format is used to display an overall summary of all matches in all files.
