The clipboard history is a child window that displays a listing for any text copied to clipboard during the current editing session. You can toggle the clipboard history in the Layout tab.

Double-clicking on any item in the clipboard history inserts it into the active document. You can hover over items in the clipboard history to see a tool tip containing a larger extract of the text for that history item.

The symbol in the upper left of the clipboard history represents the encoding used for the entry. An A represents ASCII / ANSI, while a U represents Unicode / UTF-16.

The Size value, if enabled in the clipboard history options, reflects the size of the clipboard history entry in bytes.

The File value, if enabled in the clipboard history , shows the file name from where the text was copied.

All line breaks in clipboard history entries are represented as \r\n (DOS line ends) or \n (Unix line ends). Actual line endings are used if / when the clipboard history entry is inserted.

The clipboard history context menu includes an option to delete individual clipboard history entries as well as clear the entire history. Finally, selecting options brings up the clipboard history options dialog.

Clipboard history options

The clipboard history options dialog includes the following options:

Show source file
If checked, the file name from where the text was copied is shown at the top of the clipboard history entry.

Show number of characters
If checked, the size in bytes of the clipboard history entry is shown at the top of the clipboard history entry.

Show tool tips
If checked, a tool tip containing a larger extract of the text for history items is shown on hover in the clipboard history.

History sort order
Setting this to Ascending will show newest items at the top and oldest items at the bottom; new items are inserted at the very top of the list. Setting this to Descending will show newest items at the bottom and oldest items at the top; new items are inserted at the very bottom of the list.
