The Editor display » Cursor / caret branch of Settings includes the following options.

Normal cursor/caret type

  • Vertical bar
    (Default) If selected, the insertion caret appears as a vertical blinking line while in Insert mode.
  • Underscore cursor
    If selected, the insertion caret appears as a blinking underscore while in Insert mode.

Overstrike cursor/caret type

  • Block caret for overstrike mode, normal caret for insert mode
    (Default) If selected, a "block" caret is used while in Overstrike mode.
  • Inverted - Normal caret for overstrike mode, block caret for insert
    If selected, the normal cursor/caret (set above) will be shown in Overstrike mode, and the block caret typically used for Overstrike mode will be used for Insert mode.
  • Block caret disabled, always use normal caret
    If selected, the normal cursor/caret (set above) will be shown in both Insert and Overstrike mode.

Allow positioning beyond line end

This option allows the caret to be positioned beyond the end of text in a line. You can begin typing at the point beyond the end of the line, and spaces will be inserted from the last position in the line to the point where you began typing.

Underscore is word stop for Ctrl left/right arrow

If this option is selected the caret will stop at occurrences of "_" in text when Ctrl+left/right arrow are pressed. By default, this is not selected. Please note that the setting for this option can affect the functionality of macros/scripts that include navigation operations.

CamelCase naming stops for Ctrl left/right arrow

If this option is selected the caret will stop at uppercase letters in mixed case words when Ctrl+left/right arrow are pressed.

Enable multi-caret editing

If this option is selected, Multi-caret editing functionality is enabled. See the associated help topic for more information on multi-caret editing.
