UltraEdit, UEStudio, and other IDM applications include two different menu interface styles: Ribbon mode and Toolbar / menu mode. Ribbon mode is based upon the ribbon interface, where commands / icons and their descriptions are arranged in horizontal fashion within various categories. Toolbar / menu mode is the typical menu and toolbar interface that is common in most other applications.

When you start the application for the first time, you can choose which style you prefer. You can get back to this screen by going to Support » Show welcome page.

Toggling between ribbon and toolbar / menu modes

You can toggle between modes at any time by doing the following:

  • If you're currently in ribbon mode, right-click on the ribbon and select Toolbar / menu mode » Contemporary menu or Traditional menus.
  • If you're currently in toolbar / menu mode, right-click on the menu or toolbar and select Ribbon mode.
