UltraEdit allows you to set bookmarks to mark a position in a file. Once a bookmark has been set at a line, you may use menu or keyboard commands to move to that line.

By default, the column position is bookmarked with the line so that when you jump to the bookmarked line, the caret is positioned at the bookmarked column as well. However, you can configure this behavior in Settings » Editor » Bookmarks.

Bookmarked lines are visually represented by a highlighted line number background, or the entire line depending upon your settings in the Settings » Editor » Bookmarks section in Settings.

Bookmark limit
As of UltraEdit v27.00 / UEStudio v20.00, there is no limit on the number of bookmarks per file.

Setting bookmarks

Shortcut: Ctrl+F2

To set a bookmark:

  1. Move the caret to the line where you want to set a bookmark.
  2. From the Bookmarks dropdown in the Home tab, choose Toggle bookmark, or press Ctrl + F2.

Removing bookmarks
To remove all the bookmarks, use the Clear all bookmarks command in the Home tab "Bookmarks" drop down.

Navigating bookmarks

Shortcut: F2 and Alt+F2

To move to the next bookmark after the current caret position, choose Next from the Home tab "Bookmarks" drop down, or press F2.

To move to the previous bookmark before the current caret position, choose Previous from the Home tab "Bookmarks" drop down, or press Alt + F2.

Selecting to bookmarks
Hold the Shift while navigating to the next or previous bookmark to select everything from the current caret position up to the bookmarked position.

Find bookmarks
You can set special Find bookmarks with the "Bookmark matching lines" option in the Find dialog. This allows you to bookmark lines containing a particular string, then copy, cut, or delete them from the file. If you wish to remove bookmarks added by a search but still keep your other bookmarks, you can do so by going to the Home tab and clicking Bookmarks » Clear Find bookmarks.
