<h2 class="setting">Dockable tabs</h2>
If selected, file tabs will be displayed in a dockable window that can be undocked and moved outside of the main application window, and arranged / resized as desired. If this option is NOT selected, files cannot be cascaded or tiled using the relevant [[:Category:Window tab|Window tab]] commands.

<h2 class="setting">Types</h2>
You can select one of three options related to how file tab overflow is displayed:

* '''Single line - scrollable'''<br>File tabs will be displayed in a single row. When the file tabs for the number of files opened exceeds what can be displayed on a single line, left and right scroll arrows will be displayed at opposite ends of the tab row.
* '''Single line - drop down file list'''<br>File tabs will be displayed in a single row. In this mode a list of currently open files may be accessed by clicking on the down arrow at the end of the tab row.
* '''Multiline'''<br>File tabs will be displayed in multiple horizontal rows – as many as necessary so that all file tabs are visible.

<h2 class="setting">Close tab button</h2>
You can select one of four options related to the display of the "x" close button for file tabs:

* '''None'''<br>A close "x" is not displayed on any file tab.
* '''On tab bar'''<br>The close "x" is displayed at the end of the file tab row. Click on this to close the active file. This option is disabled unless the '''Single line - drop down file list''' file tab type is selected above.
* '''On active tab'''<br>The close "x" is displayed only on the active file tab.
* '''On all tabs'''<br>The close "x" is displayed on all file tabs.
