Clicking the top-level '''Record''' button or '''Quick record''' item in the "Record" sub-menu of the [[:Category:Advanced tab|Advanced tab]] immediately begins recording keystrokes and editor actions for later modification and macro playback. The purpose of this functionality is to provide the same ability as recording a macro but with a single keystroke to record and stop recording. When quick recording is active, the button in the ribbon changes to '''Stop'''. Clicking on this, or pressing the macro quick record shortcut again will stop recording the macro.

The command works in an identical manner to the [[Record macro]] command with the exception that it does not prompt for a macro name, shortcut key, etc.

After quick recording a macro, when playing the macro back, no cancel dialog is shown. In the macro list, the quick-recorded macro is shown with a blank name. If you begin quick recording again, any existing quick recorded macro or macro with a blank name is overwritten.

You can play back a quick recorded macro by selecting the '''Play again''' or '''Play multiple times''' command as with normal macros.
